Edit: To D.G below, Then please explain to me only why I paid income duty to the IRS on the back wages that I collected from a settlement I recieved? Back wages ARE taxable as income, because they are regular proceeds that you had earn. As for pain & suffering, conceivably you are right. But I know for a fact that pay for wages are taxable, I have the reciept where on earth I paid almost $4,000 contained by taxes on them to prove it.
