Are prisons run by utter morons?

I just saw a documentary just about a maximum security prison. This prison have a special building where they hang on to gang-leaders incommunicado, so they can't run their gangs. The full point of the sub-prison is to not allow contact with anyone. The prisoners get hold of around the rules by slinging notes on strings beneath the cell doors to each other. These are solid metal doors, not bar. The wardens response is a constant patrol that does nil but to nab notes as they are slung. A technique that take a lot of man-power from a severly under-staffed facility.

Why not spend 50 cents a door at Home Depot for a rubber draft blocker? Voila! no more unsanctioned notes.

This is lone the must obvious of a pile of similar boneheaded policies I saw contained by a single 1/2 hour special.

So, the question. Could this prison be run more intelligently, or am I means of access off foundation?

Answers: I am a correctional officer at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. Which houses some people you might hold actually hear of..Dennis Radar- BTK? The Carr Brothers and Derek Streeter who killed several statute enforcement officers. Prison is not a break. We have three segregation cell houses for our "special" inmates. When I first started working within I was walking passed adjectives the cells and doing a guarantee check. I came upon what the inmates ring a fishing line. It be literally 10 cells long. The first inmate did not enjoy a hot pot (cooking pot for noodles and such) so he asked his buddy to heat up some wet and pass it on this fishing vein. Honestly from my experience where I work in that is nothing you can do going on for these little things. We are very understaffed as ably so it makes it sturdy to really buckle down. I dont know if the inmates pass informal notes this channel but if they did there is really nil we can do about it within a segregation unit. These guys are on lock down 23/7. They procure to come out for a ten minute shower and out to yard. There are two officer at the door at all times and the inmate is cuffed up in the past even opening the door through the food outdo or bean hole. When the two officers are escorting the inmate to where on earth ever they may be going that one inmate is the only one out and not locked down. Now when later go out to courtyard we put them in cage basically. This shut within is about matching size as a cell and has some excersize equipment that they can do verbs ups on and so forth. I think our facility is run well, but at hand is always room for enrichment. About your question of a rubber draft blocker, we in fact have those on adjectives doors in our segregation unit, the inmates are not stupid and they find ways around it.
So? An officer catches two inmates ratification notes, what can he/she do? Sure they could write the inmate up, but these guys are within segregation which means they have to have acted out to be sent within, such as having contraband close to tobacco. But most of the guys in seg. hold long sentences to serve and they could pretty much care smaller number.

You are not off podium, these inmates are human and honestly there is just so much we can do.

I want to say that your definitely right about some officer only have a G.E.D or some technical training. I individually have a amount in Administration of Justice. These officer who dont really care going on for their jobs and the safekeeping of other officers or inmates are the ones who bring surrounded by drugs and stuff like that. It is pretty dreadful that someone would be willing to risk it adjectives by bringing in drugs. There are officer like that out here. Or we have feminine officers and other feminine staff such as nurses and kitchen workers who "fall within love" with an inmate. That isn't something I agree near but people are relatives. I am a female officer and I treat these guys close to any other person on the street. You shouldnt blame a integral facility for the stupidity of those such people.

I'm not sure more or less other prisons but our Warden spends ALOT of time at our facility and is always involved next to everything.


About sending family member away after "driving hundreds of miles" is pretty common. The people are advised on what they are allowed to wear and briefed on the things they are allowed to bring surrounded by. No cellphones, tobacco products of any kind, deeply its just you and your drivers license. What you hold to understand it is for the financial guarantee of the prison. I understand and know that it seem stupid since the officers are the ones bringing it contained by. Those "bad" cops do not belong in statute enforcement at all, and if caught will spend time within prison.

Until you have experienced time in prison as an officer or an inmate I dont conjecture you have any right to mediate.

It doesnt matter what they do the inmates will muse of another way to do what they hold to do! think going on for it 24 hours a day for them to sit and guess of new ways to draw from over on the system been nearby done that and i found out to beat them is to freshly obey the law and not go to prison. and yes prisons are run by morons. the morons the more prisons simply look at the amount of prisons in cali ust be a adjectives state of special education helmet wearing individuals. and yes i live there and i do include my self ive done time within 4 of the most infomus prisons in cali{san quinten, folsem,soladannouncement, and the good behind the times pelicun bay} so i have to include my self surrounded by the special bus

Im going to one up your story.

In oklahoma a few years ago we had gov keating. his wife be a majority stock holder in private prisons here surrounded by our state. She thought it would be a good concept that prisoners not use their personal clothes to dress and so spent millions to have uniform made for the prisoners. The uniforms arrived. They be the same color as the guards. Because it be a govt contract there be no exchange policy. The clothes were burned. New ones be ordered. Because all the money be spent on the first uniforms the second unforms be cheaply made... so cheap that the sleeves and legs fell off when more than once.

The prisoners contained by our state have to hail as collect to talk to their family connections members, mode the families hold on paying so they can keep contained by contact. The cost per minute is 3.49 a minute with a minimum of 10 minutes per hail as. If you go over by even a second you own to pay for a full minute within after.

I believe if you cant do the time dont do the crime. Oh did I tell you that we enjoy people serving 13 yr sentences for bouncing checks for smaller quantity than 10$.

Did you know the average prison guard has merely a GED and some technical arts school training? Did you know that family member are turned away on visiting light of day (even if they drove hundreds of miles) because of the color and type of clothing they are wearing? Did you know that familiy members are search when they enter the prison, yet drugs and liq still kind it into the prison system... from the guards? Did you know that most prison wardens are from time to time even in the prisons? DId you know that end year in the state of Oklahoma 40 women finished up pregnant while being within an all womens prison?

The rubber draft blocker is too simple. It would cost organization their jobs.

What exactly is the 8th Amendment?

I have never be in any trouble beside the police before contained by my life. I am 17 years behind the times. And I am wondering what exactly is excessive bail? I know I was burdened accused. But my bond be $100,000. For 2nd degree kidnap and Robbery with a treacherous weapon. Was that bail too high? My friend get falsly accused too but his be only $11,000. I dont fathom out that. And there be no evidence. I got a bond slackening when I was incarcerated and it go down to $10,000. But it left me surrounded by jail for 3 weeks.

4 years ago i be working for a trucking co and stayed there for 1 year and they ring me in for a uninformed drug test and i go amiss the drug test and be fired .since then i be in treatment and very soon im in recouping and trying to get fund in to driving but i own been turned down from copious company's and my classA license has no points on them.HOW DO I GO ABOUT FINDING ANOTHER JOB.

Hi! What kind of criminal charges can be brought against someone who is working at a pharmacy and steals OxyContin? I don't know if they've be sold or taken, so what kind of felony is purely the stealing?

At the time I did not know my rights but I do now. He after could not find what he was looking for within my phone. And tried to accuse for something else. He consequently took my personal information. And lied to the magistrate to get a warrant for my arrest. When the workbook message he was looking for be not in my phone. Nor did he enjoy a court order to achieve it. Have my rights been violated?

Woman claims fall on my property?

Yesterday a stranger come to my door wanting my homeowners insurance, claims she fell on my sidewalk. No one saw her and she did not seek medical minister to. Plans to on Monday. There is a 5/8 inch uneven square on the stride. Just like going on for 20 on my street. Does anyone know if homeowners will pay. I'm almost thinking she is a scamer. Any philosophy?

Keep a record of the date and times she talked to you and the date /time this "accident" occur . Other than that tell her to run to Hell , and call the cops if she ever contacts you again .

The date can be VERY important if it comes down to a court luggage especially seeing as she contacted you days before "seeing a doctor" .
