Im writing a Pro/Con essay on this, and I am the Con side, any cons you can think of?

However, this wouldn't really solve tons of those problems with immoral firearms -- it doesn't take THAT much work to switch out a tub & thus change the ballistic signature.

Smoothed barrelled guns (i.e., shotguns) don't even hold any type of ballistic signatures (I don't think).

One of the biggest "negatives" which people hold problems with is simply allowing the national parliament to know "who's got what" as far as firearms move about. Many people still don't trust the affairs of state & don't trust them to keep that information confidential and/or to not use that information against us.

This would pose a huge burden for gun makers, can you assume the kind of storage space it would consume and personnel they would enjoy to hire.
