Such as the taking of portions of land for shoring up levees contained by New Orleans, is one example. It is for the public good.
However, this process have been abused only just. Land is being seized by the command "for the public good". Then, a few years later, this same home winds up surrounded by the hand of private developers, who build resorts, fancy homes, lake, etc. all "for the betterment of the community", and/or allegedly to inject brass into a poor local economy.
They use any number of excuses, such as the inevitability for a fresh water source, to build an expansive reservoir system. This same excuse is self used in my county. The politicians cry that we call for another water source, but one of the prime attractions listed on our tourism site is the "wealth of fresh, clear water" in the county!
Eminent domain, for the most cut, does nothing but pocket land from the resourceful (usually poor) landowner for a pittance, and enrich the politicians, contractors and developers.

I agree that in recent years (and probably in the past) it have been abused, especially when it be recently used to lift land from low-income households and contribute it to higher-income apartments. That is completely against the point of eminent domain.
A management cannot function effectively without anyone able to use lofty domain. So in principle I do agree near it. However, I totally disagree with the method it gets used within a lot of cases. I don't presume it should be used to foreclose on property that gets turned over to genuine estate developers. That's a travesty and an outrage.
And you are right on your follow up question. There does involve to be a better way to determine the worth of the property.
I am againsts it 99.99% of the time and Ambivilant .01% of the time there are highly few instances where I consistency it is justifyable and even in those instances I have a feeling that it is still wrong without bringing into details more than just property merit theres a really good austrailian movie give or take a few a family going through it call the castle it brings up the issue that theres more to a homes value than the money.

Chances are extremely good. About the one and only time you cannot get amalgamated custody is if you can prove the other parent is unfit. Which is hard to do, unless you hold documentation. Joint custody has nil to do with visitation, btw. It have to do with core life issues (ie, medical, etc...) Visitation is a different concern entirely.

Wearing seatbelts (for adults), but I'll do it since it's the law. I know it save lives, but I hate them. They are so humiliated for me, they usually fit around my neck. I'm weak enough to settle on for myself.
Pot, gangs come from the illegalization of it and are feeling like to sell it on the black bazaar; and people are likely to buy it. If it was manufactured, it would be smaller number dangerous to the consumer and inhabitants living around a consumer (ie meth lab explosions).

I agree near David. I'm totally a libertarian. I'm not a pothead (not that it's necessarily a BAD thing), but I really think Cannabis wishes to be legalized. It's ridiculous that alcohol is legal, even so it causes more sabotage than marijuana.
Anyway, everything David said about libertarians, I am a firm believer within that.
