Is it legal for a company to withhold the end pay check if I don't administer two weeks notice?

A temp agency tried to withold my final pay check because they said I didn't administer two weeks notice. Granted, this be in '93 but it have always bothered me.
Answers: It is not officially recognized for them to withhold any check, for any reason.
Whether fired or quit or give no notice, they owe ur check at subsequent regular payday.
They cannot hold wages earned, for uniform not turned in, for tools not turned surrounded by or any other reason.
u can't walk back immediately, that far, but for future insinuation.
They can decline to not pay ur due time off time, if no reference and surrounded by some cases, bonus money can be held, but wages earned are wages earn. They don't have to reward early, but enjoy to pay at subsequent, regular payday, no exceptions.

You would have to read the contract between the agency and yourself. For a common job the answer is no. When you move about through an agency they make money as a percentage of your wages. By quitting without thought you may have broken their contract. Technically they would be charging you a allowance.

I am pleased to report that conditions are completely different within jails within UK. Since that idiotic 'Human Rights' Bill be enacted, prisoners can complain of, and prevent any, mistreatment by staff or fellow inmates (of course, you occasionally own to pay someone to burn the room of someone who robbed you).
Those inmates next to outside money can easily bribe any number of warders or convicts to serve them. (Paint their room, do their laundry, etc. Drugs are cheap inside (if you close to them) and are a unit of currency. We removal testosterone, strength and speed(and by speed I dont just suggest speed in self fast...I suggest speed of decision making because we as women really try to work things out contained by our heads). We are hard wired to be diplomatic and sympathetic...men are hardwired to be hunters (not to utter they cant be sympathetic or diplomatic). I live in Brooklyn, NY and hold lived in impossible to tell apart apartment for over 1 year. I have never be late on payments. I used to settle in lolly because I did not have a checking side for awhile. I finally got one a few months ago and I hold been paying her within checks because it is much more secure. She have been really upset over it and say she wants lolly. I compromised with her and said that I would furnish her the check a few days early so she could bread it by the 1st. Last time I did that she claimed she never got the check (even though I slid it below her door) and wanted currency. I still payed her by check and now I am afraid she will not brass it. No where does it state within my lease that I have to pay cheque by cash. Is near anything I can do in this situation. Do I hold any rights? I have read horror stories in the order of how landlords will hold checks and try to evict you. Does anyone have any warning?
Answers: I suspect she does not want the bank copy of the check. She's probably not claiming it as income on her taxes or something like that. That's dishonest, but I'm not sure what you can do about it.
