I LIVE IN NY (NASSAU COUNTY) AND I RECENTLY FILED FOR SOLE CUSTODY OF MY ALMOST 3 YR OLD SON. I MAILED IN THE APPLICATION ON OCTOBER 5TH AND FAMILY COURT WAS SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE IT THE DAY AFTER. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 6 AND I HAVEN'T HEARD OR RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM THEM. I'M WONDERING HOW I COULD FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON SINCE I RECEIVED THE APPLICATION THE DAY AFTER I CALLED AND THEY RECEIVED IT BACK THE DAY AFTER I SENT IT BACK, HOW COME THE PROCESS SLOWED DOWN SO MUCH AFTER THAT? I WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS GOING OK AND THAT THE CUSTODY PROCEDURE HAS ACTUALLY BEGAN.Answers: The other side has to be served and the difficulty is due to waiting for the other side to complete service.
