What if..?

ok what if i already got a job at a really high end place, filled out the application and lied about being a convicted felon and now they want me to fill out another app. and a criminal background check release form (which by the way I already filled out) what do I do? Do I continue to lie( and hope to GOD they never find out) or do I tell the truth?

Answers:
I have to agree with Hockeyfan: your best option at this point is coming clean and trying to make the best of the situation. If the company finds out on their own, and it's highly likely they eventually will (I work in HR, trust me on this), it's going to be worse. Not only will they have grounds for immediate termination, but it will be that much harder explaining to your next employer why you lost your job.

Good luck

Cut your loses asap!
You're so screwed.....
cut your losses and leave on your terms, save face
If they do a complete background on you they are going to find it. It is better to admit to it before they find out and hope that because you came clean and told the truth now they will give you a second chance. But lying in the first place may give them the impression that you are not trust worthy. Good luck.
Personally, I think honesty is best. But if it's more than 10 years back it MAY not show up at all. Can you explain it like saying you were real young or something? Who knows, maybe your new employer will be okay with it?
It's over. Had you been honest up front, they may have been willing to work with you. Now they will just see you as an ex con and a liar.
If they catch you lying, you're going to get fired, and probably won't get paid for any work you've already done.

If you come clean, you have a shot.
