My dad died. What should we do?
My dad died. It's now just me and my mom. My dad owns a very small restaurant and a small house. What are all we need to do after my dad's death? What are all we need to take care of? I know there will be a bunch of medical bills we have to pay. My dad had no health insurance or life insurance. I'm lost and overwhelmed. My mom can't speak english and so she can't handle much of any of this.

You will have to go to court to get authourity to probate your
fathers estate, then find out what his assets,liabilities are
there are rules for who inherits in the absence of a will.
and find out wether his debt's were secured, or unsecured
and wether youare liable to pay them,
P.S. his creditors will lie about this so check independent sources about the rules.

First, I am really sorry to hear of the loss of your father. Take over the restaurant if you can and make the money you need for bills and such. If you can't do it, sell the restaurant and pay the bills with what you get from the restaurant and pay to keep the house if you owe anything on it so you at least have your home. Get your mother into classes to learn English because she will need it especially if she is still young, as she may have to work. You are the man of the house now and it would be great if you could stay with your mom long enough to get her to learn independence in case something should ever happen to you. Not saying it will, but life does not come with a guarantee of how old you will live to be. Anyway, I hope everything works out for you and your mom.
