What can you do if you know that a person has accessed your email account?
Aside from the obvious (changing passwords etc etc.)
I mean in legal terms, is there anything that you can do through the court system?
Wouldnt this be an invasion of privacy or harrassment or something?
Also, how can I prove in no uncertain terms that my Yahoo was accessed through their computer while I was 2500 miles away from them?
Would Yahoo be able to help? Surely they can tell by the IP.
FYI.. My account was accessed from a person that I personally know and not very fond of to say the least.

Yahoo will not "help" you other than tell you to change your password or delete your account and create a new one.
The only way to access what IP addresses accessed your account would be by a Court order, which you would need to hire an attorney and have proof/probably cause and show damages (EX: person pretended to be you and sent out a virus from your e-mail address and you are now being sued or person accessed your e-mail address, pretended to be you and sent a nasty e-mail to your employer and you have been fired over it). Even then, very expensive, long road that that may lead to nowhere.
Delete the old account, create a new one and be wary of who you give it out to and create a password that consists not only of numbers and letters, but symbols that it will be hard, if not impossible for the party to crack if they do you your new e-mail address.
Laws are not in place to keep with the the technology and there are few, if any, protections if you use the internet, unless someone else is committing gross misconduct or illegal activity, and even then, it is a crap shoot if you can get the authorities to do anything. Filing a police report that your account was hacked only helps you to protect yourself in case someone tried to sue you.
I'd check with a coumputer geek. It seems to be totally illegal.
Just change email and move on.
Just change the password, or change to another account.
