What's the Legal Way to Buy a Handgun in Indiana?

This is kind of an after the fact question, meaning I already have the gun.
I bought it from a woman whos husband died.
It's a snubnosed black S&W .38 revolver and has never been fired.
I thought $250 was a fair price and so did she.
So I gave her the money and took possesion of the gun.
So now that I have it I want to do everything proper.
I am 30 have never been arrested so I'm good there, and like to keep it that way.
What all do I need to do, in order to make the purchase ok.
I'm afraid to call and ask the Police and then end up having it confiscated b/c I did something wrong.
Also if your a anti handgun activist, please don't give me your opinion. I respect those who don't want a gun, but I choose to.

Answers:
In most states, as long as you are legally allowed to own a gun, You have already done everything required to OWN a gun. Private parties can sell guns they own without any special rules. If you want to carry the gun in public, just ask about a concealed carry permit. According the the Brady Campaign, Indiana does not require registration of guns and does not require safety training for handgun buyer.

I would call and ask the police. They WON'T take your gun. If you're really afraid to call and ask the police, try calling a gun shop. They should tell you how to go about getting a proper permit.
You'll need to get a firearms ID card and a handgun permit if you don't already have one.
