It is when a party purposefully violates the terms of a contract. It is a ground for lawsuit.

You have a contract with somebody and you break the rules of the contract.
Exactly what it says.
aka breaking a contract. Could be written or verbal. Someone agreed to do something (perform a service, pay a bill on a certain date, etc...)and didn't keep their end of the deal.
