Should it be illegal?
Should homosexuality be banned on tv? or made illegal to practice?
Answers:
Well, let's see
Band from TV, yes, our children should not be exposed to or made to believe that the practice of homosexuality should be acceptable.
Illegal to practice, though I would prefer it, I am not sure that we can ever get a law passed, the ACLU would be the first to bring about a lawsuit
The homosexual act is immoral as is gay marriage, both should be banned.
No.
No!
If you don't like it turn over.
Banning it completely is a stupid statement that only someone completely homophobic would say, therefore your point is invalid!
No!
nope this country was founded on the belief that everyone has their own right to freedom of speech and of press no matter how someone else may feel on the subject...we are all equal be it gay or straight we should all respect one another for our decisions...
Should be banned and punishable by death.
No way. I can't believe you would even ask that!
Absolutely NOT! Would you like for heterosexuals to be banned??
No. But people who try to make it illegal or discriminate against them should be in jail.
No.
I don't like any sex on tv - homosexuality should definitely be banned. What message is that giving to young people? A war wil come soon. And no prisoners taken..
Edit: die of aids you perv!
Homosexuality is practiced by animals so lets BAN THE DISCOVERY CHANEL!
HOMOUDONT
It should be but as we have a greater percentage of queer politicians in Westminster than in the public in general this will never happen, why do you think that the homosexual laws were changed in the first place.
The simple answer is no.
Homosexuality and the Gay Community is very much a part of our lives here in UK as well as across the Free World.
Seeing two gay men kissing in a soap on TV is not going to turn the world Gay. It will not even encourage young men to become Gay or even take up with such a life style.
There are plenty of Gay characters in TV soaps and elsewhere on TV. In the past we had the unmissable Larry Grayson, Kenneth Williams, Frankie Howerd, Ivor Novello, Noel Cowerd and many more.
UK got a Private Members Bill passed in the House Commons, entered by the Welsh Labour MP, Leo Absey in 1967. It eventually passed into law. This bill allowed for consenting gay adults to have sex in private together.
Subsequent law also passed in the House of Commons gave more freedoms to the gay community, including such as civil partnerships.
In addition to all of the above, EU Law gives rights to gays as it does to all of our citizens.
If you want a fun day out try London Pride 2008. You've missed it this year. Yesterday Saturday 5th August was Brighton Gay Pride.
I can see how it may be banned from TV, as 'offending the public decency' is used as an excuse to ban anything the do gooders brigade don't like.
Personally, I have nothing against Homosexuality - I just don't want it shoved down my throat!
NO!!
mabey YOU should be.
yes because its being used to brainwash the people that something bad is good, if you watch the some soaps, they make the homosexual appear to be all wise and knowing, and the woman go running to them for advice. they are always fair and butter wouldnt melt in their mouth. if one disaproves like you, one is called a homophobic, they try to make out they are so innocent. how about a word for them and their supporters, "sodomite fanatics" lets not forget two great cities were destroyed because they rose to power. "sodom and gomorah" it can happen again.
YES !
Homosexuality is part of life and why shouldn't it be portrayed on TV?.It has only been fully legalised in the UK for the past few years why should we go backwards?.I cant see hiding things is going to change anyones sexuality and they are doing me no harm so why not live and let live?If I see men kissing etc it turns my stomach so I switch off - problem solved!
Everyone to there own ,
While I agree , it's not for me , We have to understand that others , that have views , that differ from our own , have rights
I do not drink , but I don't see why others should be stoped in doing so
If you dislike the matter , being shown on TV , you have the right to complain , that is your right
It used to be illegal and now it's not - and that's much for the better. There isn't anything wrong with it - it's natural. Homosexuality itself does no harm, it is attitudes like yours and other posters on here that does the harm.
So many young people are trying to come to terms with their sexuality - whatever it is - that it is vital to be open about all forms of healthy and natural sexual expression.
Making it illegal wont stop people doing it. It was in fact illegal before 1963 or thereabouts and homosexuals got married to cover it up, but they still "did it". People cant stop feeling how they feel. It is not a choice, any more than you chose to be whatever you are. How would you like it if somebody made it illegal to be the way YOU are?
All explicit sex on TV should be banned. It adds nothing to the story or whatever; being just padding to fill in time with writhing bodies. The old films suggested what happened and left the rest to our imagination, which in the end could be much more lurid than seeing it in the flesh.
Absolutely not!..People do not 'decide' to be Gay, everyone is what they naturally are, if you're referring to programmes such as 'Clapham Junction', etc; then just don't watch, their certainly wasn't any problem with Homosexuality in Roman times, in fact it was considered honourable...why shouldn't love between Men and Men and Women and Women be considered honourable today?
Taking drugs is a choice a persons sexuality may be genetic or a result of experiences in childhood or a combination of these and other factors beyond the control of the individual. To make something that you do not choose to be, but discover you are, illegal, is perverse.
Clearly some now 'choose' to declare their 'status' this is not the same as choosing to experiment with drugs etc but merely a desire to be accepted by society as 'ordinary'.
I do not like homosexuality as a practice but it is wrong to condemn people (he who is without sin should cast the first stone) simply because they don't conform to your understanding of 'normal' if we want to live in a democracy we all need a tolerant society.
