Should first time offenders be given max penalty? Why?

Enough with this “slap on the wrist” for first time offenders. Severity in penalties will cause people to know that their first offense will be there last. Therefore, first time offenders must be given the max penalty to enforce individuals to think about their actions.

I like the 3 strikes your out rule. But I do agree with you. When you read about someome getting 5 DWI with no justice there is a problem with the system.

If you give the maximum sentence to a first time offender, what have you held in reserve for a second-time offender?
I think every case should be a case by case basis. The judge should make the choices based on the trial, evidence and what will be justice, rehabilitation and teach the perp a lesson.
