What do you personally think of PETA?

Do you think it's a radical organization? Or do you think it's a significant organization that truly wants to protect animal rights? Opinions please. I have my own, but I'd like to hear what others say first.

Answers:
Although I hardly agree with the way food is managed and supervised in the United States, I disagree entirely with PETA. I don't agree with their tactics, and I don't agree with their beliefs. The only reason why the people who are part of PETA are alive today is because their ancestors relied on fur to keep them warm enough to fight through hard and cold winters and hypothermia. God gave us animals to use for food. PETA is a ridiculous and unnecessary organization.

We have regulations that are supposed to be on all those who raise animals (for food, or byproducts), raise crops, etc. We have laws forbidding unethical treatment of domestic pets. We have laws mandating rights for animals that far exceed the laws we have mandating our own unborn children. If the food and drug administration and the US health department wasn't so concerned with Chinese toothpaste, lead paint in Fisher Price toys, and how many billions of drugs they could make up diseases for and sell this year, maybe we wouldn't have an organization like PETA around.

Inhumane treatment only applies to humans, "In-human-e." I don't need to respect Tuna. When someone tells me I shouldn't eat fish because the hook is cruel and unusual, then I have lost all hope. They have officially got soy-for-brains.

First answer made me laugh...

I think PETA has worthy goals but implements them in an unacceptable extremist fashion.
Terrorist group.
I think it is a radical organization, and I think they do want to protect animal rights. The thing people dont get, is that it takes radical organizations to make mediocre progress. People hate radical organization, and im not a big fan, but I realize that they are necessary if we wish to keep a balance.
I do not think they have the right to preach to people and put them down for eating beef, pork, chicken, turkey etc... I think that is carry it way to far.
its a radical hypocritical organization that is responsible for thousands of canine and feline deaths
As an engineer with a background in bioengineering, I think they are a good force to have around. There is a lot of worthless animal experimental work going on (esp. in psyc depts). Peta has raised that awareness.
definitly a Terrorist group
I would get banned for life from Yahoo if I put what I truly thought of them.
I would hardly call People Eating Tasty Animals (PETA) radical.
I think they are a joke. I have looked at their website and they tell outright lies trying to make their actions seem acceptable. The sad thing is that people believe those 1/2 truths and lies. My other complaint about them is I have actually seen them picketing a Micky D's with some of the picketers wearing leather belts and shoes, etc. Having seen this it is impossible to have any respect for this group.
Somewhat effective. Sometimes unreasonable in its actions.
I am not familiar with PETA, sorry.
Reminded of the old PETA riddle:
Why does PETA throw paint on old ladies wearing fur coats
but not on Hell's Angels leather jackets?

The [presumed] good they may do is masked by their continual ineptness.
