What is a 'legally certified copy of my passport'?
When I applied for a job I was asked to enclose with my CV an original or 'legally certified certified copy of my passport'...How do I legally certify it?!
Answer:
You have to take a photocopy of your passport and get a solicitor to sign on it that it is a certified copy, everything cost's these days
Just take a photocopy of it and add at the bottom that you certify that this is a true copy (verified if you like by a couple of friends in the role of referees) and that they are welcome to see the original in due course. This will at least show that you have some initiative instead of making off to some solicitor. Tell them you will supply the original at interview.

The first answer here is correct. My partner had to do it for a bank account. Good Luck.
It has to be done by a solicitor or a notary public, and they must see the original alongside the photocopy.
Exact instructions to obtain a certified copy are available here (needs Adobe Acrobat reader) :
