Could you ever get in trouble for defending yourself?

If someone is defending themselves from an attacker, will they be held liable for any harm they cause to the attacker?

Answers:
Possibly.

using mace, an arm-bar (self defense moves), or possibly even a tazer against somebody who is trying to harm you or somebody else you will not be at fault.

however if somebody pushes you, and you stab them, shoot them, or break their neck, possibly.

make sure somebody is around to see what is actually happening. yell help so people will know you are not the assailant.

If your defending yourself and harming the other person when you know that they probably arnt meaning to harm you.
Or in school if you end up getting accused of harming the other person when you were only trying to defend yourself.
Yup, in today's courtrooms.
I'm not sure exactly but I'm pretty sure it depends on the situation, like if you provoked the attacker you might be liable in some way. If it's defense against a home intruder than you shouldn't be liable.
Yes, if you use more than the necessary force to stop the attack.
