Why is my primary doctor trying to force me to go through workmans compensation?
i injured my back off the job playing basketball. my doctor asked if had every suffered from a back injury in the past. i said, "yes, one year ago, it was work related." now he insists on me going through workmans comp because she believes there is some kind of correlation. i dont get it! why wouldnt she want to help me? why wouldnt she want my business? is there something im unaware of in the wide world of hmo's, workmans compensation, and state disability? something seems fishy...

You're right on target to suspect of "some kind of correlation" between your doctor and workman's comp: It's evident the doc gets some form of payola. Just as shameless are the payola and/or perks handed doctors who prescribe (often unnecessarily) certain mega-expensive pharmaceuticals or steer patients into purchasing certain medical equipment--with monthly service charges for use.
I'd say speak to a trusted doctor--but given the cushy treatment American Big Medicine lays out to today's doctors..I host doubts you'll find one that will share the secrets behind HMO's, Workman's Compensation and / or State Disability. But be assured: there's PLENTY to suspect is fishy about it all.
Deny the request of the primary doctor to have you go through workmen's compensation as long as you can still do your job.
she is not saying she does not want to treat you. She is helping you get a free exam by saying go through Workman's comp. Workmans comp means your job pays for your health care if you get injured on the job. Id say go for it.
the 1st. back injury makes the back a easy victim for more injuries>>>>makes the back muscles week and more stressed out.... 2nd injury doesn't`t take much to get hurt
Doctors often are puzzled when they ask "how did this happen", and receive an answer that they do not believe can have caused the injury they observe.
Soft tissue injuries of the back do create weaknesses which show up later and can be mistaken for new injury.
I personnally had a back injury at about age 30, that didn't bother me for years, and now at 60+ the same muscle group gives me trouble regularly.
You may be suspecting that your doctor is 'playing the system`, when he is really just looking out for your best interests.
