What would happen if judiciary had the power over criminal laws?

What are the pros and cons if the judiciary had the power over criminal laws?

Answers:
I can't think of many pros. But the big con would be that the power to make laws would be in the hands of people who had lifetime, or long term appointments and thus would not be held accountable to the public, the voters, and the taxpayers for the law they made.

Further, it would put an end to all discussion about the viability or the fairness of any law.

Finally, it would take power out of the hands of many, and put it into the hands of few.

what do you mean by power over criminal laws?
because the judiciary does have power, the power to interpretate and enforce!
