What color can i paint?

I was wondering if i could paint a vehicle entirly chrome legally. And if so where would i find the limitations and regulations on colors and requirments for the vehicle to still be legal in Illinois

Unfortunately, I can't recall the place or other details, but I do remember reading about some guy who chromed his entire car (with real chrome plating) and was cited by the cops for it. I would imagine that turning your whole car into a mirror would create a nuisance, as well as a danger to other motorists in bright sunlight who could get temporarily blinded by the reflection. However, I'm pretty sure they don't make spraypaint that looks like real chrome. I've tried the stuff before, and it looks more like dull aluminum, which should be legal if you want to use it.
