Another drinking age Q?
Ive heard that there is a law that will rise the legal drinking age of alachol from 18 to 21
Now im not sure when its coming in
but ive heard it is coming
now im turning 18 at the end of this month
would i suffer the effects of this law
or would i be allowed to drink leagllay and any1 born past a certain date would not be allowed to drink (legally) till the age of 21
Please help me understand

you'll be fine. even if they did, they can't give you rights and then take them away, so you'll be allowed to drink anway- this is what happened in some american states when they raised their drinking age. anyway, as other posts have said, you'll more than likely be 21 by the time the law is passed, if it even gets passed at all.
if you ask me, the whole reason kids drink is to seem 'grown up'. reduce the drinking age to 5 and it won't seem half so big and clever...lol
Nobody has passed any law yet, they are still discussing it. It is doubtful it would get passed anyway
The law in most states is already 21. While I agree with that, it is stupid to ask a 18 year old to die for our country and not be able to drink legally. On the other hand, by saying you would suffer the effects tells me you may already have a drinking problem if it is that important to you.
they have been trying to introduce this law for a while now . i wouldnt worry bout it its gonna take ages to get it passed , infact u wil probably be 21 by the time they do. happy birthday !!!!
It's just being propossed at the moment by various organisations. It is yet to come anywhere near Parliament, so you have a while to go before you need to worry
in what states is it 18? I thought all states were 21 long time ago.
Don't worry yet, it is only being proposed by those who want to put the blame for bad behaviour onto alcohol, rather than the pillocks who drink it and then cause trouble.
They say that to make it 21 will cure us of having teenage drinkers on street corners frightening the populace. What they don't seem to get, is that the ones I see are underage now, never mind if they made it 21!
It is the same old crap as usual, lets just change the law rather than do some work and enforce the ones we have got!
I shouldn't worry too much - it's barely even on the drawing board yet so even if it did become law one day chances are you'd already be 21.
Now 16 year old smokers on the other hand...
