What can I do about my company cheating me out of my bonus?

I am a Project Manager for a large company. I was told 2 years ago that I was eligible to participate in the "Bonus" program, got signed up, achieved all goals and then at the end of the year was told the company lost too much so - no bonus. Same thing last yr under "new bonus plan" ... worked hard achieved/exceeded all goals thinking of my bonus. - now told that I was actually not eligible even though I saw my boss sign me up for it last July. What can I do legally? I want to be able to look them in the eye and tell them that I know what they are doing is illegal and I intend to take action... but I don't know if it is. any help out there? Thanks

Not a thing. Unless you have a legal document that says you get "A" if you do "B", they have no obligation to give you a thing. Either live with it or check the want ads.

You can Call the Union
Depends how much you like your job...you can bet you won't have it long if you challenge them...been there, done that...
Sorry to break it to you but a bonus is just that , it's a bonus it is giving, not mandatory by your company at all. It is really shitty of them, but that's about it! they do not legally owe you anything. The best you can do is offer to terminate if they do not give you the raise. In most cases it wont matter because employers seem to think employees are a dime a dozen.

bo·nus (bns) KEY

NOUN:
pl. bo·nus·es
Something given or paid in addition to what is usual or expected.
First, contact a lawyer. You'll want to have all documents pertaining to the bonus program that you signed - things like plan documents, how the payments will be made, that sort of thing.

Any decent lawyer will give you a half-hour consultation for free.
IANAL . if it really is a bonus plan and not a compensation plan, it is likely that there is nothing you can do except look for another job. get copies of the plan and pay a real lawyer to look them over for any recourse you may have. you will probably need: the bonus program documentation, proof that you met all the criteria, proof that you have been wrongly denied, and even w/all that you may not get a cent, but telling your boss that you are having a lawyer examine the issue (after the lawyer has started the process) may get you something (in addition to a huge headache and losing any trust your boss has in you, i mean)
