Why isn't the drinking age lowered for underaged military men+women during wartime?
These honorable soldiers, risk their lives everyday, but when they come home they can't (legally) have a beer in a bar or a restaurant.
Answers:
Thats true. i can never understand also how a minor cant consent to drinking, smoking, or sex because they are "too stupid and irresponsible" but when they commit a crime they are charged as adults.. its makes no sense... They suddenly are considered responsible when it comes to dying for their country or taking responsibility for a crime... but not when it comes to drinking
You can get alcohol.
The drinking age is lower on base.
They can have a drink in the dorm. Overseas they can drink. They are okay.
I always thought they could drink on base, but maybe I am wrong. But in the big picture, I agree, if these soldiers can risk their lives, they deserve to have a drink now and again!
Because MADD convinced everyone, and particularly politicians, that its reeeeeealllllly bad to allow Americans under 21 to consume alcohol.
For whatever reason, our lawmakers consider Americans to be less responsible than French, Germans, Canadians, British, Mexicans, practically every Asian, every east European, and probably every person in the world living outside the United States, all of whom can consume alcohol under the age of 21.
