What is the best website to conduct a background check?
I am hiring a nanny for my kids and need a background check. I have tried netdetective.com, recommended by Consumer Reports or something, and it is a total scam. They have deducted the $30 fee from my account 3 times now without setting up a user account for me.

This doesn't answer your question directly but it's the the best answer you're going to receive, both for you and most importantly your children.
1) Unless you have a very high paying job most of your salary will go towards paying for a nanny, babysitter, daycare, etc. After paying for childcare, and the cost of commuting for work, etc, you'll be lucky if you're netting minimum wage.
2) Your husband will have more respect for you because he'll see you as a loving mother and not just a baby factory.
3) You children will be instilled with *your* values and not those of a stranger. Unless of course you think you're a bad mother and having anyone else raise your children is better than yourself.
4) Your children are only young once, don't give away those precious years of bonding to some employer. It is not worth it.
Contact your local police department. They usually will do it for you - or find someone who knows a cop.
Contact Consumer Reports to help you get your $ back. There's a glitch there - I hope.

You can run a background check on her, then ask her questions to verify what you found out. If you want to be discrete, you can ask your questions as part of a social conversation when you are getting to know each other. Then verify her answers against what you have learned.
