If I go to the movies with my brother who is 18, should I be able to get into a rated R movie?

I went last night to see Superbad, and the retarted ***** working there wouldn't sell us the tickets even though my brother who is a legal adult (18 years of age). He provided his liscense and the stupid ***** still wouldnt sell us the tickets! WTF?!?! Should I have been able to get in? My opinion is yes, because my brother is an adult and when were out, he is my guardian. Any help?

Answers:
You are correct. A movie with an R rating requires that anybody 17 years of age or younger must be accompainied by an adult. That could be ANY adult. You should have been able to get in. The only rating that bans minors outright is NC17.

He is not your "legal" guardian.
No, as long as your not 18 you cant get in, simple as that.
don't listen to these idiots as long as he buys the tickets you can get in, you don't need to be 18 to see an R rated movie you idiot above me but BTW i saw superbad last night and it was sooo funny but i liked Knocked Up better
