Are there any gangs in the philippines like the yakuza?
i read this question while researching and was surprised at how most people were unaware of activity in the Philippines. Hence, i'd like to inform.
Yes if you're talking about prison gangs, of course there are how else will they survive.
AND YES there are gangs like the Yakuza. The current name of which i am not aware of but are the filipino representatives of the Yakuza in the Philippines. During the Marcos Era they were referred to as the Big Four or the Four Aces. They were responsible for smuggling money, cars, and fire arms never drugs and white trade. As of today only one is known to be living. In the 80s towards the end of the Marcos Era, one was murdered, another missing, another had a stroke, and the one still living remain untouched. After the downfall of these three the yakuza appointed 3 new ones asking first the children of these 3 if they'd like to continue the "family business."
That's the basic gist of one of the gangs in the Philippines. :)

Yakuza is japanese. But there are not many who originated from japan in Philippines. The majority of asians in the time of marcus was chinese people.
So you can imagine your news was a shock to me.
