What's the....?

Ok when some people talk about children and pettifiles they say the child was raped. But most people say the child was molested. I thought rape was the adult version of molest? An adult or teen can only be raped and a child can only be molested? Can you help clear up the confusion here? Thanks

Answers:
It's "pedophiles."

Rape is forced sex, molestation is touching or fondling -- and both can happen to kids as well as adults (and women as well as men, for that matter).

Someone (adult or child) can be molested without necessarily being raped. Some people use them interchangeably, however rape generally indicates forced sex.

There is no punishment great enough for someone who molests or rapes a child. Their innocence and trust can never be restored.

There is also no punishment great enough for someone who rapes a woman.
