Do conservatives have higher moral values?
A liberal and a conservative walk into a court room.
They both had a family member killed by a drunk driver.
One smokes pot and has loose sex.
The other is married, does no drugs and goes to church.
Which one wants to forgive the drunk driver and which one wants to have him executed?
Answers:
CONSERVATIVES are very much to the idea of preservation of society. Now, that does NOT mean that they don`t follow a progressive approach to today`s world affairs.
As in MOST western countries, excluding America, execution is seen to be evil, and the wrong way of punishment for criminals. Conservatives would give the maximum life sentence to the drunk driver, rather than getting rid of him where that punishment is banned according to law.
That is because Conservatives are progressive and agree to the the change our society continuously faces, but obviously there are limits which have to be understood.
Conservatives are on the centre-right, liberals more on the left. I would rather follow the conservative`s idea than the liberal`s in many many aspects.
The liberal on the other hand, is more care-free and cannot give a damn recognition of the intensity of the crime the drunk driver has committed. He tends to believe that right, this is your life and you can do WHATEVER you want with it. It`s more like a two-world of laws out there, which is very much UNACCEPTED in Britain and the rest of Europe.
My last point is; It`s the same if we take for example millions of girls having loose sex in any country. The Conservative would tackle the issue, irrespective of colour, sex, race and install the tranditional way of thinking according to the respect of that person`s religion through social mobility, social responsibility and expect good results for the betterment of the country, whereas a Liberal would simply NOT care about the number of bitches and downfall of reputation that country has because of an easy-going and more `soul-free` idea of life.
------------------------------...
There is ONE thing which I really like with LIBERALS on this issue however, and that is;
Considering if we talk about the `value of life` in this instance, the Liberal `smoking his pot` and acting `care-free` is MORE likely to fight and use his political talents/instincts for the right to LIVE for the criminal and will NEVER give up until he gains his cause.
That is one thing I HONESTLY do appreciate with Liberals, but I think on other issues they don`t perform that well.
I'm Conservative, but I believe in natural death, unless it's self defense.
No one advocates execution for drunk drivers. Such a stupid question. Now if Tookie Williams walks into a store and blows two people away with a shotgun, yes, give him the needle.
Absolutely without any doubt. Liberals believe in the laws of man. Conservatives typically attempt to adhere to the laws of God.
What’s that tenth liberal commandment?
X. Thou Shalt Covet thy neighbors house, thy neighbor's car, and thy neighbor's spouse. For thy neighbor hath gotten all of his goods and success by oppressing the poor. Thy covetousness shalt drive thy politics.
U.S.Veteran – I am sure Jesus agrees with most libs stance on abortion too right? Try again…
Plenty of libs trying to stand all indignant when they don’t have a leg to stand on.
ABORTION – this kills any moral stance you libs have.
COWARDICE IN THE FACE OF A THREAT – the same cowardice that causes more people than necessary to die because libs don’t want to attack a threatening enemy before they cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands if not millions of innocents (WW II). The same cowardice that lets pedophiles out of jail to molest again. The same cowardice that lets murderers out of jail to kill again.
Conservatives have higher moral values.
That's why they get caught offering oral sex in public park restrooms, and fondling male pages.
Con=kill him
liberal= lets try to help him
republicans believe in killing people.
Democrats follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and realize that the death penalty has no place in civilized America.
republicans get quivers all over when they see the life snuffed out of things.
.
A conservative with their religious background would forgive. The conservative has a job and cares for his family without the assistance of the government. It's the liberal hippies that smoke pot and do drugs. They are on food stamps, and subsidized housing. And they are in a government program for drug abuse and in treatment for aids.
This Conservative would forgive him and would push for him to be sent to God and be judged there.
Troll.
Yeah, & don't forget all those conservative pedophiles.
Following the stereotypical process to its conclusion here, I suppose the morally superior (self-rightious, holier-than-thou, etc) guy is going to seek solace through forgiveness.
But not all liberals favor the death penalty.
No.Neither wants to execute the drunk. But you can't group people together like that. They are individuals and each will have a different opinion. Both sides tend to go to extremes sometimes, but that is HUMAN nature.
Well, depends on which one is which. I'm assuming you are pegging the liberal for the pot-smoking layaround and the conservative for the married church-goer. I seriously doubt that he does no drugs, however, unless you tell me he doesn't drink coffee or tea or smoke. The conservative is fairly likely to recommend execution, unless he goes to a church that believe in the judge not lest ye be judged scripture. The liberal is about a 50/50 chance. If he's a complete scofflaw, then no he wouldn't want execution. Beyond that, he might not want the offender forgiven, he might want a life sentence, or he might want community service. Sorry people refuse to fit in pigeonholes.
I would say the conservatives would be more likely to opt for an execution, even though I think that punishment is way out of line for a drunk driving case, but whatever lol. In general, right wingers are advocates of harsher punishments then left wingers are. Also, there's been (not a lot) but a few cases where left wing groups have tried (and succeeded) to get murderers out of jail.
Ps... irrelevant but interesting. I know of a few cases where the murderer was let out due to these groups advocating for parole, and guess what? they all killed again, and were sent back into prison :P
Conservatives and liberals usually derive their values from different sources. Conservatives tend to be religious, while liberals agree on certain things they think are right and wrong, without relating them to religion or God. I doubt if either of them would want the drunk driver executed, but I think that the conservative would be more likely to expect a tough sentence because he believes in absolute standards of right and wrong. The liberal would likely think that since he himself may also drink or smoke pot regularly, he would be a hypocrite to judge the driver.
I know of no one who wants drunk drivers to face no consequences at all, and no one who wants them executed.
Social conservatives, by definition, are concerned about premarital sex, abortion, and other such issues.
Higher moral values? They may advocate for them, but are not always successful themselves in following their own advice, being human and fallible.
I do not know of any reliable figures on the comparative rates of "immoral" conduct in each group (conservatives and liberals).
Dont know. Sometimes, we make things complicated. Instead of right and wrong, we label things as liberal and conservative. There are good and bad liberals and there are good and bad conservatives. You can be a liberal and be pro-life. You can be a conservative and not like the way Bush has handled his job. Unfortunately, our Congress (not every congressman or woman, but most of the important ones) dont think in right or wrong. Many dont even think morals has a place in politics. Wow. Without morals, what is law? Why is murder illegal? Why is rape illegal? Why is polygamy and gay marriage (most of the time) illegal? Because they are immoral. You dont have to be a preacher to have values.
wow..never thought of this one. I guess the conservative tends to lean on good morals more than liberals. But, i never thought of it that way.
No, I don't think that cons have higher moral values. I think they have large egos, arrogance and believe they are superior in all ways.
Cons=kill the drunk because they think they are God.
Liberals=one fatal mistake does not justify killing another. Two deaths do not equal right.
One topic has nothing to do with the other. You are presenting a scenario that every one who smokes pot and has casual sex is a liberal, and only conservatives get married, are drug free, and attend church regularly. This question cannot be answered with any % of accuracy because the human mind and how they will deal with tragedy is different for most people. If you were watching a television program, Highway to heaven the plot would have had the christian giving forgiveness. But television and reality can be miles apart. Every one grieves and handles loss in thier own way.
Either one could go either way depending on the circumstances.
There are too many variables to make a knee-jerk choice.
As a conservative and a christian that question bothers me. To imply that just because someone goes to church they are somehow better than a liberal person. And I know many liberal people and they are my friends and they GO TO CHURCH. So to answer your question, we all are humans and will forever make mistakes and fall short of living the ideal life. I am so mad at the hypocrits that call themslelves christian that put on the persona that they are better and more MORAL than anyone else. We are christians and are not to judge ANYONE, that is God's job and one I am more than happy to give to him.
So, which one wants to forgive the drunk driver or wants to have him executed? Well it depends on the state of mind of each the liberal and the conservative. But I have not seen many cases of a person killing someone by drunk driving that lead to them being executed.
