Is this a legal practice?
I purchased a GE refrigerator through Home Depot, which we have had numerous problems with (see my other questions). The Home Depot has a feature that says review a product if you own it. I have attempted several times to post a review on this refrigerator model (a negative review to be sure but not vulgar in anyway!!) to warn fellow consumers. But no matter how many times I try to submit my review (over several weeks) the Home Depot's website still says - "No reviews, be the first to review this product." This is certainly dishonest , but is it actually false advertising - in that they HAVE recieved reviews?
Answers:
It could simply be a problem with their website. I have run in to this on other sites even when I was doing a good review. Have you checked with the customer service of the site to see if others have had this problem? I have also had it happen where the problem wasn't the website at all it was my computer settings.
It's more likely that it's a problem with their web page, and not some nefarious plot to keep from getting negative reviews.
Hell, I've seen freelawanswer.com categories empty, when I *KNOW* there were posts in there.
Having dealt with Home Depot and their inefficient systems over the years, I can say with a modicum of confidence that they are just too stupid to make a website work right and there is nothing nefarious about it.
Wow...two independent uses of "nefarious" in two posts...who'd a thunk it...
I would contact your local - Better Business Bureau and turn them in. I bet then they will pay attention. Jerks.......
Until you have taken all reasonable steps to resolve the issue talk of false advertising is very premature. Have you contacted the web master of the site?
