Class 3 felony...?

A Class 3 felony states this...

Accessories before the fact, aiders and abettors who helped the principal before the basic criminal event took.

But I really do not understand what that means.
Can someone help??

It means that thoe persons who aided and/or abetted a perpetrator before the perpetrator committed a crime are guilty of the Class 3 felony.
