Anne Widdecombe...what a card, huh?
Watched a programme called 'Anne Widdecombe Versus Prostitution' last night (she's on next week, as well). For years, after her infamy for dragging Michael Howard through the tabloid heaven with her 'There's something of the night about him', she's basked in the 'fame' that followed for years, turning from a sharp matron with tight pudding base hairstyle to slightly attractive mother figure with blonde hair (and what else...as it's that that gets you into the news) and - wait for it...a gay icon. She has also gone around the media selling her right-wing observations to one & all ever since. Imagine her disgust when the prostitutes she were talking to were asking for a 'payment' themselves for being kept away from their work.
She may have been listened to and respected whilst her party were in power (and perhaps in the few years after), but could be people, on watching the first episode of her observations might realise why the Tories may stay in the dark of night in the near future.
Answers:
i just love anne widdecombe. she has no ability to amend her tone of voice to the situation, such as when the girl called collette was crying and upset, she still badgered her with her cheese grater voice about going back home. what amazed me was this generic view that going back home for girls like this will solve their problems. how did she know that the girl wasnt getting abused at home, or her mother was a drug user or prostitue herself?

She is interviewing Crispy next week, that should be interesting.
