How do I get out of jury duty?
Now I know how moralistic some of you people are so let me tell you that I have already served my time for this country in `Nam. I have no interest in court trials(hell, I don't even like judge judy) so when you literaly take a bullet for your country you come and talk to me about “American responsibilities.” So what's my best shot at a retired man getting out of jury duty in the state of California? And no I'm not gonna commit a felony!

Unfortunately you'll have to go when you are summoned, but you'll be released within the hour if you make some kind of racist remark, or when asked about penalties, just say you think all law-breaking sonofabitches should be executed, or something like that.
Barring that, if you have some demonstrated disability resulting from your service, or you get sick, your doctor may be able to excuse you.
You are retired.
Go to Jury duty.
You have no excuses.
Just show up like you are supposed to. If you get called into a courtroom as a prospective juror, and if they seat you in the jury box and start asking questions, just tell them that you don't believe in our justice system and would not be able to reach a fair verdict. If you are convincing enough, I think the judge or at least one of the attorneys will get rid of you.
say you know the person
I didn't realize that serving in the military absolved you of all further civic duty. Do you still pay your taxes, vote, mow your lawn, etc etc? Go serve, and be thankful that the system you defended is still up and running, thanks to you and people like you.
tell them you are a convicted felon
You don't get to decide whether you want to or not, or whether its your duty or not...I suppose you could put an alka-seltzer in your mouth and foam at the judge, that would get you off--but you're a big boy--why don't you just serve?
Say everything they don't want you to say when they ask you questions.
if you are disable you doctor will give you a paper to carry to the judge to be release
Tell the judge you are mentally unstable. Your question makes me question your stability. You could tell the judge you have medical issues that
will make it difficult to sit for long periods of time.
What does serving your country have to do with jury duty?
One option to prove to them that you are the sole source of money in a family, but you are apparently retired.
Just do Jury duty. If you don't do it, that just means someone else will who might be in a worse situation.
Oh, give me a break. I do appreciate your service to our country, but jury duty is something we all have to deal with. Like it or not, it is indeed one of your responsibilities as an American citizen. If you're retired, they're not going to let you out of it.
The American justice system, which is one of the things you fought to protect, is dependent on individuals getting a trial before a jury of their peers- other citizens. Serve. The rest of us do.
Pretending you are bias by saying you are member of kkk
When they question you, all you have to do is express a bunch of radical political beliefs that would lead them to think you'd be a prejudicial juror. Like for instance, tell them right up front that you firmly believe in the principle of "jury nullification" and you refuse to sign any oaths as a juror which would go contrary to it. They'll have no choice but to let you go. Unfortunately, though, you'll still have to show up and hang around for a couple of days or more until they decide that. But hey, you never know. If you're retired and have nothing better to do, you might actually find the case interesting.
