Texas to EU, stuff it. What do you think?
Texas reached a milestone when it executed Johnny Ray Conner for a murder he committed nearly 10 years ago. On Wednesday, Ray became the 400th person to be executed in Texas since the state resumed capital punishment in 1982 (Snip) The request met with a blunt response. ''Two hundred and thirty years ago, our forefathers fought a war to throw off the yoke of a European monarch and gain the freedom of self-determination,'' said the governor's spokesman.
Answers:
And how many of the four hundred have committed additional murders since their executions?
Umm, the only thing I can say to this is, don't murder someone in Texas.
I think that statement was a bit rich considering revolutionary America was helped by another European Monarch in the guise of the French. As well as the southern states sought self-determination, not for the right reasons, and war broke out because of it.
Europe is the US's greatest set of allies, its largest market, its largest supplier and largest investor and creditor. So as European governments listen to America's, would it not be wise for America to listen to European governments.
The EU asked for the execution and all executions to be stopped, they didn't demand it, they didn't link their request to negative action on their part, e.g. tariffs, etc.
The EU has a clear stance on the death penalty, the same stance as the Roman Catholic Church, the belief it is wrong and they both have asked other countries not just America to stop all executions.
