What is the law on faking your own death?
i know it is illegal, but i heard that if there is an attempt to kill you more then twice then you can fake your death to escape your enemies. is it true?
Answers:
No.
tell that to Vince MCmahon WWE Chairman.
mmm not sure.ask Elvis..
as long as there is no one getting harmed. if you commit fraud for example to insurance company then you are looking at trouble.
yes, in the covert operation paperclip in 1867 Freddie Blassie aka barry darso aka paul allen did this very feat.
There is no "fake your death only to escape your enemies" clause in the law. It's illegal, period. I'm assuming your enemies are local only, and their reach isn't very long. In that case, move. That's still legal. And if they are a gigantic powerful organization, seek out the justice department... testify against them for trying to kill you at least, and get a new identity in the Witness Relocation program.

I think "rockabillymonk" watches to many movies or shows. I am pretty sure hes only just asking a question out of curiosity.
Who cares what the penalty is its better then death right?
If you endanger rescue workers or good Samaritans that try to save you; that's illegal. If you try to do it to collect insurance; that's illegal. If you do it so that in order to avoid a debt; that's illegal. In other words, it is not illegal to fake your own death but what follows or comes about because of your actions usually contains some form of law breaking.
No, that's just stupid.
Actually, there is no law against faking your own death. If you file a false police report, that's illegal. Also, any act committed with intent to defraud is illegal.

What it boils down to, is that it depends on exactly what you do in order to convince people you're dead. If it involves committing fraud, then yes, that's illegal. But if you do a good enough job, then nobody will investigate anyway.
