Is there anyone who can tell me what I can do when my store manager force me to work overtime?

I was really upset when I finished my eight hours work while I was being told that I was not allowed to go home from walgeens. in my mind, I believed it is not right, but I was so nervous I might be kicked back on the next day coming back to work and have to see my store manager.

tough question... you'll have to choose.

If you believe human beings are robots with no free will, then go to work and be quiet.

If the job - better saying, the money you get from working there, is reaaallly important and you can't live the way you like without it; then work overtime anytime he wants you to.

But if you believe you'll have good argumentation skills, talk with him, show him how you feel, but be polite. Don't show your anger. Tell him what you think he could do to improve the working environment, after you've figured it out yourself how you think it should be. You might get fired, but you won't have that pressure on your heart for thinking you're just another 21st century slave!

U need to talk with your union rep. He/she will know what your rights R & whether the manager was right or wrong. If your store isn't in a union U might consider starting one so this does not happen again.
Check with the Labour Department. Is he/she paying you the overtime? Or you can call the Social Security Division and they can direct you from there.
it is against the law, report them. call the labor board in your state. i work for wal mart from 10 pm to 7 am. if we have more work to do, some of us clock out at 7 am. and they don't say anything. i signed a contract that says 10 pm to 7 am. i go home at 7 every morning.
if you live in the U.S. you have two rights only.

1. you can work the overtime, or;
2. you can quit.

It's that simple.
Stop whining and quit
This is really easy. The next time your manager tries this, walk out the door and go home. If anything is said the next day, pick up the phone book in your managers office and look in the attorney section. Your manager is going to ask what your doing, so tell them that your being harassed and are now looking for an attorney so you can sue Wal-Greens, and your manager. As it stands now, I believe you could even get a law suit about a hostile work environment started.
