Where I can find a free copy or online version of the California Style Manual (on legal citations)?
I am a recent law school grad who went to law school outside of California. While I am familiar with using the Bluebook and ALWD citation manuals, I know that the California Supreme Court has adopted the California Style Manual as the official guide for styling citations. Where can I find a free copy or online version of it?
Answers:
West publishes this now (when I got mine it was published by the Dept of General Services), and you know they are not going to let anything go for free. But it only costs $17, and is certainly worth it if you want to look like you know what you are doing when writing briefs in California. (BTW, Blue Book is not completely improper, but the Style Manual is preferred.)
You can buy it here:

It may not be available on line. Surely you can afford to bur a printed version.
Good Luck
Free copy: try a local law library if you're in California. Barring that, try a Worldcat search for ISBN 0314233709 such as http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/43454763&re...
You may be able to borrow a copy you find there via Inter-Library Loan.
Online: Westlaw has it (CASTYLE). But of course you know that's not free.
