How do I convince our local PD to provide SAFE cars for the officers?
My husband is having tons of issues with finding a police car that actually RUNS after role call (they don't have assigned cars). To make matters worse, he told me that yesterday, his car just died in an intersection - including the lights & sirens. I'm more terrified that he's going to be killed in a car accident in the line of duty than I am that he may be shot. Any suggestions on how to get the city to listen?

Get all the wives/girlfriends/husbands/boy... together and go to the next council meeting with your voices. Don't forget to inform the local media first, they will be sure to be there. Good luck!

They probably don't have money for it or something. They're expensive cars. I don't know what's the situation with them exactly. But it's probably money. May be try finding local mechanics who can donate time to fix those cars.
It really isn't a matter of convincing its a matter of money if the city or county has no money then your not getting new police cars.
Bottom line is money, not that people do not care. With tight city and PD budgets, giving from one hand often means taking from another, like overtime pay or pay raises or community services. The alternative is to raise taxes to fund the new vehicles...
