Would You Feel "GUILTY" for( Not! ) Visiting or Excepting Collect Calls from 2nd & 3rd Time Offenders ...??

unfortunately ! when people get into trouble they fail to realize that more then just them are affected by their " wrong choices" (collect calls cost the family money;stamps ,convasary change, cost of sitters for other children, carfare, gas, time off work,...attorney fees.. etc )
So,would you go through all the motions again for "REPEATERS" ?

Answer:
the only time i have ever accepted a collect call from an inmate of any kind was when i was a bail bond agent...i had to accept the calls, it was my job.

if you no longer want contact with the person, then don't accept the calls, don't visit, don't send letters to them, don't send them money for commisary. you have nothing to feel guilty for. it is your choice who you include in your life and who you do not....you don't have to justify it to anyone but yourself. just because you are related to someone, doesn't mean you have to be their 'friend' or have to have contact with them. frankly, at this point, they are draining you of financial resources. how exactly is that a help to you? is this someone you care enough for to maintain contact, or do you feel it is in your best interest and the best interest of your immediate family (those in your household) to cut contact? do what is right for you.not the offender.

at one time i was a prison guard....most offenders will drain their family of every bit of money they can get. there were many many cases of male offenders who write to family with a huge sob story, family puts money in their commissary account, offender withdraws the money to send it to a girlfriend on the outside (yes, they even gave the sob stories to their wives to give money to the girlfriend). there are many many cases of female offenders placing singles ads with fake pictures in order to get men to send them money.

say what?
No i would not feel guilty.
For repeaters, I would not.
I don't know... i guess it would depend on who they were and what they did... a close family member i would probably support, just a friend probably not
Trust me, DO NO feel guilty. I know from experience and the field that I work in that isolation on repeat offenders can make more of a difference than the second, third and more times in prison. You are right about what it costs those who are on the outside. Letters are fine and if you can afford to send a letter from time to time that is ENOUGH!
