If money is the root of all evil, then why does the church need money?

just curious

ROFLMAO!!

I like your attitude! That was a great line and I'm going to use it. I'm giving you a star for that one.

The Bible doesn't say money is the root of all evil.

Read it again and find what it really says, then try to be clever.
They don't. Do you think God really cares . . . The tithe is supposed to help those less fortunate . . . not pay for over the top structures that do nothing to help humanity.
Electricity bills, rent, etc.
Church's need money to pay the electric bill, water bill, cooling bill, heating bill. Or they can just pitch a tent outside. The thing is.... not to be that concerned on how much we have in our own pockets. Give to those who need it. That is what Jesus did. Did Jesus hang out with the richest of the rich..... No. he did not. But, the Bible (Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.) says, help those in need and your needs will be met if you just have faith and believe.
I don't consider money alone as the root of all evil, its greed and what people allow money to do to their lives that can be considered as evil. I look at money this way: it depends on what you plan to use on, such as poverty.
All religions are nothing but a business.
um.they have to pay the light bill. And their employees. And maintain the building.they have to buy Bibles and hymnals.I see your attempt to be ironic (or disastrously funny).
they need money to keep lights on / have a meeting space and the people that work for the church need to be able to have income to support their life.

honestly, churches should not pressure people for our money. at our church an announcement is made at every service that clarifies the reason for giving. the make it clear that if you are a not a formal member of the church that this giving part of the service is really not intended for you. please pass the offering. the giving portion is for the members of the church that call this church a home and have decided that they want to tithe. the church does not need the money of the anyone that does not want to give it freely. there should not be pressure. some of the inexperienced churches do push for money. i have seen this. i kepts shopping for the right church . you should pray about this and not feel pressured. giving is done freely and not required. it is a matter between you and God and no one else.
Saying money is the root of all evil means that money can be the starting road to evil if the person or people who have the money let temptation cloud their judgement. Humans are selfish and once they have some money they want more. It all depends on how you get the money and what you do with it..only that determines the "evilness" of it.
TO GET THE EVIL STAYS IN THE CHURCH!
it's logical to need money for the bills, but what I don't get is how come priests are getting paid... they should do it because of faith, not because of money.

money is not the root of all evil, because the first evil act that we know from the bible(Cain killing his brother, Abel) was not because of money. It was because selfishness, jealousy, rivalry etc...
It's the LOVE OF MONEY that is the root of all evil.

Churches need money to pay bills and help others. I live in an area hit by two very bad hurricanes over the last few years, and I can tell you that churches did more to help those hardest hit during the first few weeks than any government program.

Not what a lib wants to hear, but the truth nonetheless.
they need money to support the church and to keep the service/mass going. they have to pay bills just like anyone else.they also have to pay the salaries of the priests (which are just enough so that they can survive)
