I made mistakes in my life but I'm correcting them.could i get a business license with a criminal history?
Answer:
The only businesses that you may have some difficulty with is perhaps a liquor license but even at that, it is still pretty easy. As for needing to be bonded even in your own business, check out the Federal Bonding Program. It was designed for ex-offenders to help in the employment process as many insurance companies will not ensure a bond for an offender. I have listed the link below. Also, you may contact your local workforce development office to see if they are participating in that program.
Where I'm from, they don't ask your criminal history for a business license. Insurance and getting bonded, they may ask.
depends on the business, the criminal history, and the state. ask the county office that issues business licenses.
in my part of texas, it is pretty much expected that anyone working for or owning a construction company or lawn-care service (with few exceptions) has a significant criminal history.
Depends on your "mistakes" and what kind of business you want to get into.
If you embezzled money from somebody, I doubt you'd get a license as a Stock Broker. If you were a convicted drug dealer, you're probably not going to get a license to run a pharmacy.
A criminal history is not a automatic and complete bar from starting a business. But some occupations that require a license to practice may bar you.
