Why won't the federal government legalize crack cocaine?
It's not like everyone doesn't do it. Just think, no more reasons for gangs and crime would reduce by a lot.

crime would not be reduced by legalizing cocaine. Cocaine is what makes people do a lot of crimes. The addiction will make a person do a robbery or a mugging just to get money to get it. As long as its illegal at least we can throw those lowlifes in jail and keep them off the streets to do more crimes at least for a little while!

Not "EVERYONE" is doing it, and the risks outweigh any benefits. There are too many people that have undiagnosed heart problems that this can be deadly to, and if it was legalized more people would die. I have NEVER done any type of illegal drugs, so don't include law abiding citizens in your idiotic statement!

I think mainly 1) people just don't like having druggies around in their neighborhood and 2) although the pharmaceutical companies are making billions rolling out drugs to people that don't need them, cocaine wasn't developed in a lab for some specific purpose, it's just for you to feel good. Unlike, say, Viagra which has specific practical purposes.
Drug laws originally came from the Liquor industry lobbying Congress. They don't want the competition.

One of the duty of the government using its police power, is to save upright citizens from crack users, to deter crimes or punish anyone who breaks the law.
If all people use crack, do you think they would be productive in the community. The case always is that crack users were law violators.
Wow. Open a book and check out what happened to people before cocaine was made illegal. Google search "crack babies" and you'll see why it's illegal.
