Why are women jailed for abandonment if they leave their babies yet men can get women pregnant and walk away?
Answer:
Women can legally turn their unwanted babies over at any hospital or fire station. Not sure where they pick up their mommy of the year award or if they can somehow keep claiming welfare on the kid.
The mother can also take their sperm donor to court and force him to pay child support. Of course if you get pregnant by a deadbeat that has never worked a day in his life then you can expect those support checks are going to be really special.
Never fear though. I have held a job since I was fifteen and my tax dollars are always there to support the kids.
Having children is not like raising guppies. You can't just flush them down the toilet when you get tired of them. Although I have seen many kids that I secretly suspect would be better off being raised by a pack of squirrels instead of their parents. It takes two and is a huge step. Blaming one parent is crazy since there are two involved. People should never go into it lightly or blindly that goes for choosing who you have a kid with not just what color to paint the nursery.
I've given you a star. That is a really good question.
Answer. It's a man's world
Men go to jail for not paying support for their children if they are prosecuted by the district attorney for being a dead beat father. In Texas their pictures are regularly shown in the newspaper are they are being hunted down because of a warrant is out for their arrest. There are other states that have laws making them criminals for not paying child support.
It is one thing to leave a baby alone and unattended, and another thing to leave a grown person who is able to fend for herself. Leaving either way is just something I do not understand!
Good question! i believe the child is abandoned by Mommy both parents should be held accountable!
not saying men are perfetc but when a man abandons a woman after she is pregnant the baby still has a mother. i have never heard of a woman going to jail for leaving the baby with the father. but if its leaving a baby in a trash can or bathroom in a rest area... then the woman needs to go to jail cause she is leaving a baby, who depends on an adult to nurture it, to die or be found by someone else.
It depends on "where" they "abandon" the kid. A lot of police stations and Churches have a policy now where a mother can drop off the kid without question and no charges are brought against her.
And I'm assuming that as long as one parent is caring for the kid the law considers it to be enough. And since the 'man' doesn't carry the child for nine months he has the physical freedom to walk away, while it's a lot harder for the woman to do so.
My advise is for women to keep their legs crossed no matter how much he says "I love you." At the very least, use protection to avoid the pregnancy.
Because a man walking away isn't physically putting the baby's life in danger. A woman abandoning a baby will kill the baby because it can't survive on it's own.
That is why there is adoption, better yet birth control! They've said now that a woman can drop the baby off at a safe place like a hospital and not get into any trouble.
You simply can't compare the two. I agree, a man is a piece of crap, coward, little boy for walking away from his responsibilities but it's simply not the same as abandoning a baby on a street corner or dumpster. That's just inconceivable to me.
If a woman abandons a baby, the baby will die without human intervention. (That's why many states are now adopting laws making it legal to abandon a baby to a hospital, firehouse or police station without penalty.) If a man, however, abandons a pregnant woman, she can still fend for herself and her child.
The fact that women have the legal protection of "reproductive rights," necessarily defines a fetus as "not a viable person." Therefore, abandonment refers only to the woman...not the growing baby within. Abandonment of one adult to another is not illegal. Child endangerment and neglect (of a born baby), however, is.
I starred you too, because it's a good question. That said, however, anyone who is the immediate caretaker of a child, who then leaves the baby somewhere unsafe, will generally be arrested for doing so. If, say, the mother died in childbirth and the dad got the baby, but left the baby in a dumpster, the dad (legal guardian) would get hit with a similar charge as that which a mother would get. So at least part of the answer is simply that the mother is more often the primary caregiver.
Still, great question. I wish more young parents in the US knew about SAFE places to leave their children if they feel overwhelmed and desperate, like at a fire station. If you walk into a fire station with an infant and leave it there and never come back, you are breaking no law.
Why can women abort an unwanted baby, but men have to pay for unwanted babies that are born?
Why do women deliver babies, why do women breast feed babies and are babies bondage stronger with their mother than their father.
Biologicaly, a baby is strongly attached to his/her mother where her absence may cause negative effects such as illness, psycological problems or even death.
The care of a mother is not even close to the required care of father.
The baby could go without the father, but not the mother
As previous answers stated; It depends on whether they were left alone or in someones care. In the last 6 years,( on two different occasions)!
2 kids have been left at my home..and I was just" BABYSITTING"!! The state said because they were left in my care it was not abandonment;instructed me to take them to the police dept. to go into foster care..?
Talk about morale decisions! Eventually got custody;everything I thought I forgot as far as parenting, came back naturally. My husband and I redirected the whole course of our lives. These children didn't ask to come into this world.they were just, UNEXPECTED PLEASURES!!!
Our plans when we retired was to move out of the state with our grown children. Was I furious! But I had to collect myself and remember that only GOD would have known (before the foundation of the world;and of course me ! ) that a test of "OBEDIENCE" was in the future. We love them both dearly!! The mothers...?
There's a fundamental difference between abandoning a helpless infant and abandoning a capable adult who can walk, drive a car, phone for help or go to a friend, family member or a shelter.
Now as for the man who abandons his child and mother of his child. That's sad. But, what's sadder is when women think they know the guy before spreading their legs for him and allowing themselves to be impregnated without being more carefull. I don't understand why women reward these kinds of bums with offspring. It's not that hard to make him sign a legal contract binding him at least finacially to pay a set amount from his paycheck. If he signs it. He likes you and cares about you. If he doesn't. You know what's up. But, like always. Women just aren't willing to sacrifice the romance for the future well being of their children.
Men can get a woman pregnat and walk away. But, a woman can decide if she wants to have his children or not and more importanly the kind of guy she wants to mate with. You get knocked out,run over, shot, taxed, robbed etc. if you let your guard down. Birth control (condoms) the pill are options and it's up to the woman to take her pill and request a condom.
It's the 'natural order'. Women bear the kids and we are suppose to care for them or find someone who can. Remember we still live in a male dominated society. It's a sad fact but none the less true.
