Actively Loading or Unloading at the Airport?

why does the SeaTac (Seattle) airport, among most USA airports, have the utterly rediculous rule of "no parking unless you are actively loading or unloading"? and that rent-a-cops holler and scream at people to keep on moving? i mean, clearly it's for financial gain for the airport and city to rob people of $7 to park for 30 minutes. anyone have any thoughts on this? they claim it's for security ... now, come on. if someone wanted to be an evil-doer would they not exit their vehicle and leave it unattended (tick tick tick) as they fleed away?
thoughts anyone?

Answers:
You are right that it doesn't make much sense for security purposes. It does make sense in that it leaves space available for people who are actively loading and unloading. I know at my airport it is difficult to find a spot to load up arrivals even without morons waiting at the curb for twenty minutes. If you don't want to park, just keep circling around.

It is so you dont have hundreds of people parking and standing right outside of the gates waiting to pick up passengers. If they all were allowed to stand there nobody could pass through and a traffic nightmare would ensue. I've never been to " SeaTac" but at every other airport i've been too this is the case.
it's the same at any air port. just have to deal with it
Ummmm...i got to Sea-TAc alot..and other airports as well...it is to keep traffic moving you idiot! It is also for security too. Do you read the news about what happened at the Madrid airport? How about other places in Europe that exploded due to vehicles standing at curbside. Or better yet.Oklahoma City!!
Every airport has this rule. It is for saftey, yes, but also to prevent people from pulling up and parking and waiting for people to get off planes. If people could do that, the place would be a permanent parking lot and no one would be able to get in or out.
