Are there any laws reguarding climate control in buildings open to the public?

I work in a large all metal warehouse that is open to the public. We do not have air conditioning. We do, as employees, have access to the air-conditioned offices and free water in the office. However, in the warehouse, we only have 3 fans on the floor and 3 behind the registers. There are large industrial-type exhaust fans that we've been told significantly lower the temperature, but we are not permitted to turn them on. It supposed to be 97 degrees this week, and inside its usually AT LEAST 10 degrees warmer. Our customers nearly melt in the heat...

Is there anything we can do? I've looked at OSHA, but it just doesn't make any sense to me. Can anyone help?

Answers:
No. But it would be well for management to do something about this, as it would materially improve productivity.

I suggest you speak with your local office of Labor & Employment Services. There is no federal law that will help you, nor will OSHA. I suggest you look to your city's ordinances and state's employment and labor laws.
Before you took this job did you realize it was going these type of conditions?

Nah that company can do whatever they want with the temperature and there will always be someone out there who's willing to work in those conditions.
Write a letter to the corporate office. The local manager will respond quickly if it comes down from corporate.
