Identity theft?

Someone on the internet made a fake facebook of me and is trying to act like me. Is that Identity Theft? If I wanted to could i pursue legal action?

Thanks

Answers:
Yes it is identity theft. You MIGHT have a private cause of action, but I'd have to know more to tell you. However, you should consult an attorney about this. This is a common problem, and could mean that your life is in danger.

No, it is not identity theft, identity theft has to do with financial issues.

It is wrongful impersonation, but the only recourse you have is to contact facebook and ask them to remove the profile.
It is not "identity theft" but you may want to contact facebook and your local authorities if you know who it is... it could lead to other more serious things.
