If you rent a car and it is stolen..?
Let's say you book a rental online. You choose an economy car. When you get to the car rental agency, they tell you that all the economy cars are out so they give you a free upgrade to a mid-sized car. If the mid-sized car is stolen during your rental, do you have to pay for the price of the mid-sized car, or do you pay only the cost of an economy car, since you requested an economy car?
Answers:
The rental company's insurance will cover the loss. You might have to pay a $500.00 deductable if you didn't pay the insurance upgrade.but no more.
Don't let anyone tell you different.
keep it
Sounds like you are trying to run a scam... LOL
If it's stolen you shouldn't be liable. it's not your fault.
I say the price of the economy car. You didnt ask for it and it was an inconveniance. In fact, they should provide you with some free gas because it uses more gas. Good luck.
Neither. The owner of a vehicle being the only one who can insure it, this is their responsibility. The contract MIGHT require you to pay the deductible, but that would be the same with either car.
You should look carefully at your contract. If you don't have a copy (it was stolen with the car), then ask the rental company for a copy. It seems likely that the company would have theft insurance. But it's possible that the rental contract could make you responsible.
This is a BIG matter. You should consult a lawyer.
