Can I still recover money owed?
LONG story short... my boyfriend at the time borrowed my car with intent to purchase vehicle. He signed promissary note etc. Crashed vehicle and moved out of state the next morning, literally. Hasn't been back since. This was a good 5 or 6 years ago now and has just resurfaced. Is it still possible to sue for the money? If so, how do I since he's still outta state and I'm in california? It's over 5k so small claims isn't and was never an option. Also, do you think it's worth it to hire an attorney to fight for this debt?
Thanks.
Answers:
You still have time to enforce the debt. With a signed promissory note it should be relatively easy to obtain a judgment.
An attorney should be able to handle this for a relatively small fee.
try to contact him first if you cant, then go ahead and sue him, but first read the note carefully, what is says might not prove that he should give you money for any damage or anything
