What are the federal laws for forgery on federal checks?

Do they prossicute on check forgery no matter the amount if it is a VA disablility check?

Answers:
Yep, expect a visit from the Secret Service.

Definitely. The feds don't like frauds.
Check forgery and bank fraud are only two the many crimes the Secret Service investigates. Some people take someone else's SSA checks and cash them under the guise of the rightful owner. Sadly enough these individuals are 90 percent family members.

Copying, signing a name, changing the amount... All these are not only check forgery, but bank fraud as well. Now, if someone cashed a check that didn't belong to them and the individual found out and wanted his/her money back, that would be the only way that the forger could be prosecuted. In that instance the bank would have to pay the amount and the bank would file the claim.
