Is it legal for a teacher to go out with a former student?

I am wondering if it is legal for a teacher to go out with his former student once she has graduated from that school?
For example, i am graduating high school next June. If a couple months after that i go out with a former teacher, is there anyway he can be arrested? (i am age of consent)

Answers:
Legally it is fine as long as you are an adult and no longer a student.
Good luck!
Edited to add: If you are in college and he is a highschool teacher then it is still legally fine. He is not teaching you, and you are not a high school student and you are an adult. That is all that matters.

yes its alright. as long as youre not with the teacher when theyre teaching you. and i dont think its morraly wrong. hell, id bang at least 5 of my teachers if given the opportunity.
Yup.
If both involved are over 18 and are no longer in a teacher/student relationship.yes it is legal. The reason it is not legal for a teacher to date students is because if you think about it, a teacher is an authority figure. For them to be interested in a minor child should set off a few red flags.
legally YES!
morally.. you know.
as long as you are 18 or older and no longer attend this school. (by the way, if you are interested in some extra tutoring you can give me a call at...)
It sounds a little creepy, but if you are of age, then legally, it sounds alright.

I think if the teacher has any smarts, he'll back off or at the very least be unbelievably discreet
If you're of age and no longer have this person as a teacher, there isnt anything legal to stop the realtionship. The only questionable thing is the message you're sending to people that know both of you. If you both dont care about this, there's nothing to stop you legally.
As long as both parties are of the age of majority, then it is legal. All that means is the teacher will not be arrested. If does not mean the school board cannot fire the teacher. It looks really bad and causes parents to loose confidence in the school system, thus pulling their children out and sending them to private schools until such time as the parents can vote the school board out of office.
