What is with these thumping car stereos?
I want to hear from those who own them.
I've always enjoyed my music where I can "feel" it. I'm an old school rock and roller myself. But when I drive through neighborhoods, or pull into gas stations or up to stop lights, I turn it down.
What is the point of riding through neighborhoods where babies are trying to sleep and people are trying to enjoy some quiet after a long day at work, with the windows rolled down and these bass canons or 18 inch sub woofers are thumping so loudly, it actually rattles the windows in my house?
Are people that own these things really that inconsiderate of others? Are people that own these things trying to compensate for lacking in other personal departments?
For those that own them, these systems are not cool, they are very annoying. Or is that the goal? To prove how annoying a person can be?
Answers:
..there is an element of the "hood" that gets it's jollies off of forcing people to listen to their..."ghetto mantra".
...also gives them power over you, when they force their music which is about gangs, and abusing women.
luckily I can roll my window up...:)
I'm stuck in the 70s myself and I used to own a car stereo sales and installation business. I don't like the music (if that's what you want to call it) up so loud that I can target you from two blocks away. The silia in my ears are crushed because I was in a rock band in the 70s and now I"m partially deaf. I'm with you and I don't think you're going to get a real answer from them cause I think its a status thing with this generation. The bigger the better and the louder the better. I installed a system in a van once that blew the windshield out of the van in it's first compatition and it still wasn't loud enough for the guy.
Gave you a star for your efforts.
