I want to legally change my son's middle name. What are the steps to do this?
Im in California.
Answers:
you need to go to the county register recorder in Norwalk
Follow these easy steps:
1. Who cares? Ask yourself.
2. Punch yourself in the eye.
3. Apologize to your son for wasting everyone's time.
You Just need to write to "The Clerk of Courts" In whatever County / Town Where He was Born. Tell them You Made a Mistake about the Name.
If in the event they do not take care of this any longer, You Notify rhe County Health Department Where He was Born. (I did this with my daughter's "first" Name, in Ohio...Just cost a small Fee. Took two weeks.) Hope I Helped You. (smile)
Once a person's name is registered (for example in the birth records maintained by your local or state government), a name change needs to be approved/granted by your local court. The clerk of court usually has forms for this type of action. You need court approval to insure that a name is not being changed to avoid some kind of legal responsibility (like a debt).
